In the second quarter of 2024 the gross domestic product was $2.57T MX, 6.82% more than the previous quarter.

According DENUE 2024, Transit and Ground Passenger Transportation registered 10,465 economic units. The states with the highest number of economic units were Chiapas (929), Ciudad de México (846), and Oaxaca (732).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, total gross production was $139B MX. The states with the highest total gross production were Ciudad de México ($48.9B MX) and Guanajuato ($12.6B MX).

For its part, total income reached $147B MX in 2019, being the states with the highest income Ciudad de México ($56.7B MX) and Guanajuato ($12.6B MX).

Economic activities are related if they require similar knowledge or inputs. In 2014 in Transit and Ground Passenger Transportation the states with the highest affinity were Sonora (0.81), Chihuahua (0.74), Sinaloa (0.7), Coahuila de Zaragoza (0.7), and Colima (0.7).

In the second quarter of 2024, Transportation and Warehousing recorded a gross domestic product of $2.57T MX, evidencing an increase of 6.82% compared to the previous quarter and an increase of 10.9% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Production Indicators by State

According to data from the Economic Census 2019,  4,563 economic units were totaled in Transit and Ground Passenger Transportation, highlighting Chiapas (520), Oaxaca (387), and Puebla (382).

Total gross production was $139B MX. The states with the highest total gross production were Ciudad de México ($48.9B MX) and Guanajuato ($12.6B MX).

Total income reached $147B MX in 2019, being the states with the highest income Ciudad de México ($56.7B MX) and Guanajuato ($12.6B MX).

Production Indicators by Municipality

According to dato from Economic Census 2014, Transit and Ground Passenger Transportation had a total of 8,205 economic units and the municipalities with the highest number of economic units were Puebla (300), León (192), and Oaxaca de Juárez (180)

Total income eached $315B MX and the municipalities with the highest income were Cuauhtémoc ($44.7B MX), Venustiano Carranza ($35.7B MX), and León ($32.2B MX).

Total expenditures were $189B MX and the municipalities with the highest expenditures were Venustiano Carranza ($23.8B MX), Álvaro Obregón ($21.7B MX), and Cuauhtémoc ($20.8B MX).

On the other hand, in 2014 there were 607206 employees dependent on economic units and the municipalities with the highest number of employees were Cuauhtémoc (59.1k), León (35.4k), and Monterrey (29.4k).

The visualization shows the number of economic units in Transit and Ground Passenger Transportation according to the number of employees.

According to DENUE data published in May 2024, 5,990 companies with 0 to 10 employees were registered (65 companies more than the previous period). In the same period, 3,239 companies with 11 to 50 employees were registered (57 companies more than the previous period).

599 companies with 51 to 100 employees were registered in 2024 (1 companies more than the previous period). Likewise, 637 companies with more than 101 employees were registered (17 companies less than the previous period).

Access to Financing

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the distribution of economic units according to size that had access to financing was 13.4% units with up to 10 people, 21.5% units with 11 to 50 people, 29.4% units with 51 to 250 people, and 44.4% units with 251 and more people.

According to the age of the economic units, the distribution of those that obtained financing was 23.5% of the recently created (up to 2 years) units, 24.6% of the youth (3 to 5 years) units, 24.4% of the adults (6 to 10 years) units, and 20% of the seniors (over 10 years) units.

The states with the highest percentage of economic units that received financing were Querétaro (42.9%), Nayarit (39.4%), Ciudad de México (39.3%), Nuevo León (37.9%), and Tlaxcala (36.8%).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the states with the highest percentage of economic units that had internet services were Baja California Sur (79.5%), Baja California (77.6%), Estado de México (74.5%), Jalisco (72.7%), and Nuevo León (71%).

The visualization shows the distribution of purchases and sales over the Internet and the distribution of monetary transactions according to the medium used in the transaction and the size of the companies.

According to data from the 2019 Economic Census, internet sales reached $7.91B MX and purchases were $9.56B MX. On the other hand, sales made in monetary transactions were $139B MX and purchases reached $76.5B MX.

Problems faced by economic units

The chart shows the main problems faced by economic units. With the upper selector it is possible to analyze the problems affecting companies according to their size. By default, the problems of economic units with up to 10 people are shown.

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the main problems faced by the economic units of Transit and Ground Passenger Transportation with up to 10 workers are high costs of raw materials (24.6%), public insecurity (22.3%), unfair competition problems (13.7%), and another problems (7.58%).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the distribution of economic units that had an accounting system  was 83% units with up to 10 people, 86.9% units with 11 to 50 people, 93.6% units with 51 to 250 people, and 98% units with 251 and more people.

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the main expenses and income control mechanisms were external accounting system (71.1%) in companies with up to 10 people, external accounting system (66.4%) in companies with 11 to 50 people, external accounting system (48.3%) in companies with 51 to 250 people, and internally developed accounting system (55.7%) in companies with 251 and more people.

The visualizations shows the percentage distribution of the large economic units of the private and parastatal sector of Transit and Ground Passenger Transportation with innovation activities in at least one year between 2016 and 2018.

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the states with the highest percentage of large economic units with innovation activities in 2016, 2017 or 2018 were Querétaro (11.1%), Baja California (9.21%), Aguascalientes (7.84%), Ciudad de México (5.06%), and Jalisco (4.97%).

Innovation Activities in 2018

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, 1.73% of the large economic units of the private and parastatal sector of Transit and Ground Passenger Transportation had innovation activities in 2018.

Of the total staff employed in large economic units, 0.83% was employed in product innovation activities, 0.31% in process innovation, 0.45% in market innovation, 0.88% in organizational innovation, and 0.61% in innovation for technological adaptation and documentation.

Qualified staff in Innovation Activities

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the lowercase Transit and Ground Passenger Transportation Subsector had 47 economic units that had qualified staff in technological research and development activities, 2 economic units had it for research and technological development in the field of Biotechnology and 3 economic units for research and technological development in Nanotechnology.

In the same year, 9 economic units had qualified personnel in the registration or processing of patents for brands, products or processes, and 7 economic units had this type of staff to contracts or acquisition of patents for brands, products or processes.
