In the second quarter of 2024 the gross domestic product was $2.57T MX, 6.82% more than the previous quarter.

According DENUE 2024, Transportation and Warehousing registered 40,981 economic units. The states with the highest number of economic units were Ciudad de México (3,657), Jalisco (2,776), and Estado de México (2,761).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, total gross production was $796B MX. The states with the highest total gross production were Ciudad de México ($261B MX) and Estado de México ($86.5B MX).

For its part, total income reached $814B MX in 2019, being the states with the highest income Ciudad de México ($273B MX) and Estado de México ($87.4B MX).

Economic activities are related if they require similar knowledge or inputs. In 2014 in Transportation and Warehousing the states with the highest affinity were Baja California Sur (0.9), Sinaloa (0.89), Chihuahua (0.85), San Luis Potosí (0.85), and Sonora (0.83).

In 2019, Transportation and Warehousing had a total of 22,245 economic units and the municipalities with the highest number of economic units were Nuevo Laredo (627), Tijuana (575), and Manzanillo (480).

Also, $803B MX in total income were registered and the municipalities with the highest income were Miguel Hidalgo ($99.3B MX), Venustiano Carranza ($49.7B MX), and Cuauhtémoc ($47.9B MX).

According to DENUE data published in May 2024, 25,852 companies with 0 to 10 employees were registered (447 companies more than the previous period). In the same period, 11,159 companies with 11 to 50 employees were registered (133 companies more than the previous period).

1,931 companies with 51 to 100 employees were registered in 2024 (14 companies less than the previous period). Likewise, 2,039 companies with more than 101 employees were registered (32 companies less than the previous period).

According to the level of instruction, the distribution of trained staff was 47.5% of staff without intruction, 45.2% of staff with basic education, 46.1% of staff with upper secondary education, and 57.6% of staff with higher education.

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the distribution of economic units according to size that had access to financing was 13.7% units with up to 10 people, 27.2% units with 11 to 50 people, 38.5% units with 51 to 250 people, and 46.5% units with 251 and more people.

According to the age of the economic units, the distribution of those that obtained financing was 16.1% of the recently created (up to 2 years) units, 19.1% of the youth (3 to 5 years) units, 22.6% of the adults (6 to 10 years) units, and 23.1% of the seniors (over 10 years) units.

The states with the highest percentage of economic units that received financing were Nuevo León (35.8%), Querétaro (34%), Guanajuato (31.4%), Nayarit (29.4%), and Tlaxcala (27.8%).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the main problems faced by the economic units of Transportation and Warehousing with up to 10 workers are public insecurity (25.3%), high costs of raw materials (14.6%), another problems (14.2%), and high taxes (9.12%).

Of the total staff employed in large economic units, 1.16% was employed in product innovation activities, 0.85% in process innovation, 0.75% in market innovation, 1.55% in organizational innovation, and 1.03% in innovation for technological adaptation and documentation.

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the lowercase Transportation and Warehousing Sector had 449 economic units that had qualified staff in technological research and development activities, 22 economic units had it for research and technological development in the field of Biotechnology and 16 economic units for research and technological development in Nanotechnology.

In the same year, 56 economic units had qualified personnel in the registration or processing of patents for brands, products or processes, and 31 economic units had this type of staff to contracts or acquisition of patents for brands, products or processes.
