In the second quarter of 2024 the gross domestic product was $2.57T MX, 6.82% more than the previous quarter.

According DENUE 2024, Warehousing and Storage registered 1,340 economic units. The states with the highest number of economic units were Jalisco (173), Ciudad de México (125), and Nuevo León (115).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, total gross production was $20.7B MX. The states with the highest total gross production were Estado de México ($3.63B MX) and Jalisco ($2.56B MX).

For its part, total income reached $21.3B MX in 2019, being the states with the highest income Estado de México ($3.69B MX) and Jalisco ($2.64B MX).

Economic activities are related if they require similar knowledge or inputs. In 2014 in Warehousing and Storage the states with the highest affinity were Sonora (0.83), Chihuahua (0.77), Nuevo León (0.72), Coahuila de Zaragoza (0.71), and Baja California (0.69).

In the second quarter of 2024, Transportation and Warehousing recorded a gross domestic product of $2.57T MX, evidencing an increase of 6.82% compared to the previous quarter and an increase of 10.9% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Production Indicators by State

According to data from the Economic Census 2019,  942 economic units were totaled in Warehousing and Storage, highlighting Jalisco (144), Tamaulipas (89), and Ciudad de México (75).

Total gross production was $20.7B MX. The states with the highest total gross production were Estado de México ($3.63B MX) and Jalisco ($2.56B MX).

Total income reached $21.3B MX in 2019, being the states with the highest income Estado de México ($3.69B MX) and Jalisco ($2.64B MX).

Production Indicators by Municipality

According to dato from Economic Census 2014, Warehousing and Storage had a total of 2,181 economic units and the municipalities with the highest number of economic units were Guadalajara (285), Venustiano Carranza (240), and Cuauhtémoc (102)

Total income eached $21.5B MX and the municipalities with the highest income were Cuautitlán Izcalli ($5.67B MX), Venustiano Carranza ($3.54B MX), and Tultitlán ($1.59B MX).

Total expenditures were $15.1B MX and the municipalities with the highest expenditures were Cuautitlán Izcalli ($4.46B MX), Venustiano Carranza ($1.65B MX), and Tultitlán ($1.25B MX).

On the other hand, in 2014 there were 30411 employees dependent on economic units and the municipalities with the highest number of employees were Cuautitlán Izcalli (6.05k), Hermosillo (2.59k), and Venustiano Carranza (2.56k).

The visualization shows the number of economic units in Warehousing and Storage according to the number of employees.

According to DENUE data published in May 2024, 754 companies with 0 to 10 employees were registered (88 companies less than the previous period). In the same period, 416 companies with 11 to 50 employees were registered (17 companies less than the previous period).

95 companies with 51 to 100 employees were registered in 2024 (5 companies less than the previous period). Likewise, 75 companies with more than 101 employees were registered (1 companies less than the previous period).

The states with the highest degree of development opportunity in Warehousing and Storage according to Relatedness were Coahuila de Zaragoza (0.71), Querétaro (0.68), and Baja California Sur (0.64). The Relatedness measures the distance between an industry and the current industrial composition in each state. The presented entities register a level of specialization lower than one unit (RCA <1).

Access to Financing

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the distribution of economic units according to size that had access to financing was 23.6% units with up to 10 people, 46.4% units with 11 to 50 people, 31.5% units with 51 to 250 people, and 31.8% units with 251 and more people.

According to the age of the economic units, the distribution of those that obtained financing was 16.7% of the recently created (up to 2 years) units, 22.7% of the youth (3 to 5 years) units, 29.3% of the adults (6 to 10 years) units, and 35.1% of the seniors (over 10 years) units.

The states with the highest percentage of economic units that received financing were Zacatecas (75%), San Luis Potosí (57.1%), Tamaulipas (51.7%), Colima (50%), and Morelos (42.9%).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the states with the highest percentage of economic units that had internet services were Baja California Sur (100%), Oaxaca (100%), Tabasco (100%), Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave (84%), and Coahuila de Zaragoza (80%).

The visualization shows the distribution of purchases and sales over the Internet and the distribution of monetary transactions according to the medium used in the transaction and the size of the companies.

According to data from the 2019 Economic Census, internet sales reached $5.26B MX and purchases were $3.68B MX. On the other hand, sales made in monetary transactions were $20.9B MX and purchases reached $11.8B MX.

Problems faced by economic units

The chart shows the main problems faced by economic units. With the upper selector it is possible to analyze the problems affecting companies according to their size. By default, the problems of economic units with up to 10 people are shown.

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the main problems faced by the economic units of Warehousing and Storage with up to 10 workers are public insecurity (20.5%), high taxes (16.1%), another problems (14.3%), and excess government procedures to operate (9.96%).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the distribution of economic units that had an accounting system  was 86.8% units with up to 10 people, 98.5% units with 11 to 50 people, 100% units with 51 to 250 people, and 100% units with 251 and more people.

The states with the highest percentage of economic units that had an accounting system were Aguascalientes (100%), Baja California Sur (100%), Coahuila de Zaragoza (100%), Hidalgo (100%), and Oaxaca (100%).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the main expenses and income control mechanisms were external accounting system (38.9%) in companies with up to 10 people, internally developed accounting system (45.6%) in companies with 11 to 50 people, internally developed accounting system (51.2%) in companies with 51 to 250 people, and internally developed accounting system (72.7%) in companies with 251 and more people.

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the states with the highest income from the supply of goods and services were list Estado de México ($3.64B MX),Jalisco ($2.57B MX),Ciudad de México ($2.44B MX),Tamaulipas ($1.75B MX),San Luis Potosí ($1.23B MX).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the states with the highest percentage of large economic units with innovation activities in 2016, 2017 or 2018 were Tlaxcala (33.3%), Zacatecas (25%), Chihuahua (16.7%), Morelos (14.3%), and San Luis Potosí (14.3%).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, 5.94% of the large economic units of the private and parastatal sector of Warehousing and Storage had innovation activities in 2018.

Of the total staff employed in large economic units, 2.07% was employed in product innovation activities, 3.73% in process innovation, 1.49% in market innovation, 2.18% in organizational innovation, and 2.11% in innovation for technological adaptation and documentation.

Qualified staff in Innovation Activities

The visualization shows the distribution of large economic units of the private and parastatal sector of Warehousing and Storage that employed qualified staff in technological research and development activities in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the lowercase Warehousing and Storage Subsector had 48 economic units that had qualified staff in technological research and development activities, 8 economic units had it for research and technological development in the field of Biotechnology and 0 economic units for research and technological development in Nanotechnology.

In the same year, 6 economic units had qualified personnel in the registration or processing of patents for brands, products or processes, and 1 economic units had this type of staff to contracts or acquisition of patents for brands, products or processes.
