In the second quarter of 2024 the gross domestic product was $6.58T MX, 5.06% more than the previous quarter.

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, total gross production was $424B MX. The states with the highest total gross production were Jalisco ($76.4B MX) and Estado de México ($53.5B MX).

For its part, total income reached $432B MX in 2019, being the states with the highest income Jalisco ($77.4B MX) and Estado de México ($54.3B MX).

Economic activities are related if they require similar knowledge or inputs. In 2014 in Beverage and Tobacco Product Manufacturing the states with the highest affinity were Sonora (0.75), Chihuahua (0.68), Colima (0.65), Sinaloa (0.65), and Baja California Sur (0.65).

In the second quarter of 2024, Manufacturing recorded a gross domestic product of $6.58T MX, evidencing an increase of 5.06% compared to the previous quarter and an increase of 2.27% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Production Indicators by State

According to data from the Economic Census 2019,  25,235 economic units were totaled in Beverage and Tobacco Product Manufacturing, highlighting Estado de México (4,526), Ciudad de México (2,495), and Jalisco (2,003).

Total gross production was $424B MX. The states with the highest total gross production were Jalisco ($76.4B MX) and Estado de México ($53.5B MX).

Total income reached $432B MX in 2019, being the states with the highest income Jalisco ($77.4B MX) and Estado de México ($54.3B MX).

According to dato from Economic Census 2014, Beverage and Tobacco Product Manufacturing had a total of 56,637 economic units and the municipalities with the highest number of economic units were Iztapalapa (2.18k), Ecatepec de Morelos (1.73k), and Nezahualcóyotl (1.48k)

Total income eached $947B MX and the municipalities with the highest income were Monterrey ($90.9B MX), Zapopan ($79.5B MX), and Toluca ($65.5B MX).

Total expenditures were $553B MX and the municipalities with the highest expenditures were Toluca ($45.8B MX), Monterrey ($43.1B MX), and Cuautitlán Izcalli ($37.7B MX).

On the other hand, in 2014 there were 389382 employees dependent on economic units and the municipalities with the highest number of employees were Monterrey (17k), Zapopan (10.3k), and Guadalajara (10k).

According to the age of the economic units, the distribution of those that obtained financing was 20% of the recently created (up to 2 years) units, 14.1% of the youth (3 to 5 years) units, 11.8% of the adults (6 to 10 years) units, and 11.2% of the seniors (over 10 years) units.

The states with the highest percentage of economic units that received financing were Baja California Sur (22.3%), Campeche (21.5%), Michoacán de Ocampo (20.9%), Colima (20.5%), and Nayarit (18.6%).

According to data from the 2019 Economic Census, internet sales reached $97.8B MX and purchases were $59.5B MX. On the other hand, sales made in monetary transactions were $430B MX and purchases reached $241B MX.

Problems faced by economic units

The chart shows the main problems faced by economic units. With the upper selector it is possible to analyze the problems affecting companies according to their size. By default, the problems of economic units with up to 10 people are shown.

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the main problems faced by the economic units of Beverage and Tobacco Product Manufacturing with up to 10 workers are public insecurity (30%), high expenses in service payments (18.2%), high taxes (10.3%), and another problems (9.37%).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, 8.8% of the large economic units of the private and parastatal sector of Beverage and Tobacco Product Manufacturing had innovation activities in 2018.

Of the total staff employed in large economic units, 2.58% was employed in product innovation activities, 2.15% in process innovation, 1.28% in market innovation, 1.34% in organizational innovation, and 0.8% in innovation for technological adaptation and documentation.

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the lowercase Beverage and Tobacco Product Manufacturing Subsector had 48 economic units that had qualified staff in technological research and development activities, 13 economic units had it for research and technological development in the field of Biotechnology and 6 economic units for research and technological development in Nanotechnology.

In the same year, 38 economic units had qualified personnel in the registration or processing of patents for brands, products or processes, and 23 economic units had this type of staff to contracts or acquisition of patents for brands, products or processes.
