In the second quarter of 2024 the gross domestic product was $778B MX, 2.32% more than the previous quarter.

According DENUE 2024, Accommodation and Food Services registered 703,063 economic units. The states with the highest number of economic units were Estado de México (78,113), Ciudad de México (59,904), and Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave (48,754).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, total gross production was $712B MX. The states with the highest total gross production were Ciudad de México ($113B MX) and Quintana Roo ($94.6B MX).

For its part, total income reached $720B MX in 2019, being the states with the highest income Ciudad de México ($113B MX) and Quintana Roo ($98B MX).

Economic activities are related if they require similar knowledge or inputs. In 2014 in Accommodation and Food Services the states with the highest affinity were Baja California Sur (0.9), Sinaloa (0.9), Sonora (0.84), Chihuahua (0.84), and San Luis Potosí (0.82).

In 2019, Accommodation and Food Services had a total of 637,124 economic units and the municipalities with the highest number of economic units were Guadalajara (11.1k), Puebla (10.7k), and Iztapalapa (8.99k).

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the distribution of economic units according to size that had access to financing was 11.5% units with up to 10 people, 15.8% units with 11 to 50 people, 20.8% units with 51 to 250 people, and 24.8% units with 251 and more people.

According to the age of the economic units, the distribution of those that obtained financing was 15% of the recently created (up to 2 years) units, 11.9% of the youth (3 to 5 years) units, 10.3% of the adults (6 to 10 years) units, and 9.45% of the seniors (over 10 years) units.

According to data from the Economic Census 2019, the main problems faced by the economic units of Accommodation and Food Services with up to 10 workers are public insecurity (24.7%), high expenses in service payments (16.6%), another problems (15.3%), and high taxes (9.16%).

On the other hand, 5.26% of the large economic units applied some treatment to the wastewater generated in their activity. The main uses of the treated water were gardening and cleaning (2.38%), discharge to the public network (2.33%), and same production process (0.43%).

On the other hand, 3.15% of the large economic units made investment in environmental protection. The main investments were in decrease energy consumption ($53.6M MX), decrease water consumption ($29.8M MX), and non-hazardous waste management ($11M MX).
